Aluminium Casing
Most of the casings that
you can find in Sim Lim Square are made of
steel. These casing are heavy and it will start
to rust after a year or so, especially in a
country as humid as Singapore. Many of you feel
that a casing is just a container to store all
your PC components; it doesn't really matters if
it rust or corrode. However, if you DIY and
upgrade your PC frequently, it is important to
get a good quality casing to protect yourself
and your hardware.
A steel casing can cost as cheap as S$30 without
power supply, however the quality of these
casing is quite questionable. Firstly, the type
of material used are very thin and soft, they
tend to get out of shape or break easily. From
my experience, the finishing of these casings
are quite bad, the side panel is difficult to
open and there are many sharp edges that are not
filed. After the casing starts to rust, it is
very dangerous to put your bare hands inside to
install or remove hardware; the sharp and rusty
edges may cut your hands anytime
